Tutorial: Nailpolish Poinsettias

It’s that time of year again and I am so excited for the holidays. This year we have decided to make our Christmas presents. What started off as a daunting task has turned into a crafters heaven. I wanted to make every little detail of the presents so today I am going to show you how I made poinsettias to add to the outside of the packages when I wrap them. I used gold craft wire to create the poinsettias ( sorry, I didn’t take photos of that step) and filled the petals in with read and green nail polish. I had seen this technique on pintrest and I was not sure if it would work or not. Here are my results.

IMG_2317I started off with a drop of polish. I found that older, thicker nail polish worked best. This is a great way to use up some of that old polish.

IMG_2320I twisted and spun the poinsettia as the drop rolled down the sides of the petal. I let it dry a minute in between adding drops of nail polish and repeating the process until the entire petal was covered.
